TAXPAYER NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED FIRE DISTRICT CONSOLIDATION BETWEEN GOLDEN VALLEY FIRE DISTRICT AND YUCCA FIRE DISTRICT (THE “NOTICE”)
This Notice is being published, posted, and mailed to each owner of taxable property within the boundaries of the Golden Valley Fire District to provide notice that the Governing Board of Golden Valley Fire District has adopted Resolution #2023-16 declaring that a consolidation of Golden Valley Fire District and Yucca Fire District should be considered and that public hearings be held on the matter pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes (“A.R.S.”) § 48-822 to consider taxpayer comments on the proposed consolidation.
Therefore, the Fire District Boards will hold a public hearing for the purpose of determining if a consolidation would be in the best interests of the Districts and would promote public safety, health, comfort, convenience, necessity or welfare.

If the Governing Boards adopt a resolution that the consolidation would promote public health, comfort, convenience, necessity or welfare and each board reaches unanimous consent, then Golden Valley Fire District shall adopt a resolution declaring the two Districts consolidated and joined pursuant to A.R.S. § 48-822.
If the Governing Boards adopt a resolution that the consolidation would promote public safety, health, comfort, convenience, necessity or welfare and each board reaches a consent, but at least one board reaches consent by a majority vote, then if either: (1) one of the Districts has obtained a study of merger, consolidation, or joint operating alternatives as contemplated by A.R.S. § 48-805.02, or (2) one of the District’s tax rate is at or above the maximum allowable tax rate as provided in A.R.S. § 48-807, then Golden Valley Fire District shall adopt a resolution declaring the two Districts consolidated and joined pursuant to A.R.S. § 48-822.
If the Governing Boards do not reach a unanimous consent to approve the consolidation or have reached a majority resolution but have not met either of the conditions above, then the Governing Boards may consider asking the Mohave County Board of Supervisors to call for an election to consolidate the Fire Districts.
